When you are first starting to hunt with compound bows, you have to decide whether you’re going to buy or a rent your bow. There are a number of pros and cons to renting a bow and it works for some people, but not for other. Here’s some info below to help you decide whether you should buy your own compound bow or rent one.

• When renting , you can rent several different compound bows to try what works best for you.
• If you find after one hunt that you don’t like the bow, you aren’t stuck with it.
• The cost to rent for a day is much less than purchasing, so if you don’t even know if you will like hunting, rent first.

• If you rent too many times, you’ve easily paid the full cost of a bow.
• You may not be able to get a full handle on a bow after just renting for a day.

It’s great to start hunting with compound bows, but how do you really find one that works for you. Renting, as mentioned above is a great way to test out a few. If you take one out for a weekend, that should give you a decent idea if you want to move forward with purchasing that model of bow. You will find things that you don’t like about certain brands of bows, as most brands have a similar feel. You may decide that there’s no way you can hunt with that brand of bow simply because of the handle, the overall feel or some other factor.

At least by renting you don’t have to spend several hundred dollars, only to find that you didn’t get what you would like. On the bright side though, even if you do buy a bow and decide that you don’t like it, you can just turn around and sell it on eBay and you’re not out very much money at all.
